Tuesday DUG: 4:30 screening, 7:30 meeting

July 5, 2014

Hey Dramatisweetlifelivers,

So in the debate over how to schedule the Dramatica Users Group this Tuesday evening, July 8th, with a 3-hour movie, we've decided to split the difference:  We will start the movie a half-hour earlier than usual, and begin the discussion a half-hour later.  The movie is Fellini's B&W classic "La Dolce Vita" (with English subtitles, I assume), and it will be screened in the conference room at Write Bros. starting at 4:30 p.m. sharp.  And the meeting itself will commence at 7:30 p.m. (that's Pacific Time, for you remote participants).

If you can't make it to the office by 4:30, I encourage you to find the movie on your own and watch it in advance...or at least start it.  I know there are several public libraries around town that have the DVD.  Or you can search your TV cable or on-line services (I couldn't find it on Netflix, but I did find it on Flixster).  And you could also try Googling "la dolce vita online" on your computer (Key P. vouches for that approach).  It's considered one of the great cinematic masterpieces of all time, so let's get a good group together for this podcast!

So just remember:  The meeting starts at 7:30 PDT after the movie is finished.

Now on to Writers Group business.  For the upcoming DWG on July 15th, Ryan E. will be submitting a treatment for a screenplay.  Don't know the length yet, but he plans to get it out for reading by early or mid-week.  If you know you will be at that 7/15 meeting, write me back in the next few days, and I will forward the material to you once it's available.

As always, be sure you're committed to attending the meeting or else e-mailing the author with your comments before putting your name on the distribution list.  I'll give you Ryan's contact info if needed.

Looking at the August DWGs, we have a project slated for 8/19, but not for 8/5.  If you want to snatch up that early August spot, contact me anytime.  (Note:  We will skip early September, so after 8/19 we will have a month hiatus.)

That's our update.  Look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Sandy
