Karl Childers returns to his hometown looking for a place to belong, but friendship draws him into a family’s dangerous conflict. Chris Huntley and the Dramatica Users Group examine Sling Blade through Karl’s personal perspective, the influence of Frank and Doyle, and the difference between a compassionate intention and the consequences of acting on it. The group tests the Four Throughlines and works through the film’s Storyform.
